Success in Hull

Cooper House, a landmark in Kingston Upon Hull, has recently been reopened following an impressive renovation process from DBR. Over the span of March 2022 to May 2023, this once-commercial space has evolved into a welcoming residential complex, now serving as homes to working professionals of all ages.

The Maltings (Circa. 1968)

Looking back at the storied past of Cooper House, it was largely intertwined with The Hull Brewery Company, established in 1888. Initially flourishing, the brewery owned over 150 pubs by 1890. However, when World War 2 struck, it took a massive toll on the company, damaging the majority of the properties occupied by the pubs during the Blitz. Eventually, the many changes in ownership lead to all brewery productions and operations to cease in 1985. Over the following years, the buildings transitioned through various uses, primarily office space, including most recently serving as Hull Teaching PCT under the NHS, before undergoing its latest transformation into Cooper House Apartments.

Over £4.5m was invested into pulling off this project, which has become a testament to the dedication DBR has behind its developments. Today, Cooper House proudly offers 31 well crafted apartments, along with convenient parking bays, both sheltered indoor and outdoor, and bike storage facilities.

Cooper House (2023)

The success of this venture created 31 apartments, 21 of which have now been sold already, while the remaining 10 are occupied by professional tenants. Together, contributing a healthy gross income to reflect the widespread appeal and demand for our contemporary living spaces. The building being located within the popular HU1 postcode also makes this a prime location for residents and ensures easy and immediate access to shops, restaurants and entertainment. In terms of quality, each apartment boasts high-quality integrated appliances, including dishwashers, washer/dryers, and spacious refrigerator/freezers. The kitchen design underwent a significant transformation this time around, in comparison to previous renovations, as we now embraced a newer aesthetic with stone-effect surfaces and oak finishes. Integrated LED lights illuminate the space, complemented by sleek black electrical faceplates.

Bedrooms offer a retreat with clean white walls, hardwood flooring, and plenty natural light while the bathrooms exude elegance with black tiled flooring, marble-effect wall tiles, and modern fixtures, including heated towel racks and mirrored cabinets.

Joinery details include oak doors and door frames, adding a touch of elegance. Walnut effect laminate flooring and skirting add warmth and character to the interiors. Many flats feature French doors and Juliette balconies, inviting natural light and fresh air indoors.

Cooper House (Corridor)

Corridors and common areas boast luxury vinyl tile flooring and glass balustrades, creating a seamless flow. Neutral off-white and light grey feature walls provide a versatile backdrop, allowing residents to personalize their living spaces with ease. Looking ahead, the project anticipates the sale of the remaining 10 units in 2024, signalling continued growth for DBR.
